Welcome to the Madness!

Me and my baby -- Gio is about 6 weeks old, here.

Me and my baby on Easter Sunday — Gio is about 6 weeks old, here.

This is what happens when an artist becomes a first-time mom. I just wanted to document my baby’s weekly growth. I began when he was a month old, by taking simple photos of him from above as he lay on an interesting rug or quilt. But each week, I became a bit more ambitious and creative. Now, Baby Gio routinely travels to impossible places in an ongoing saga of DIY photo art. Each week, I collage household items, e.g., sheets, dishes, my old Halloween costumes, etc., in artful pictorials on the floor, and pose my baby. Photographed from above, a baby on the floor can appear to do some marvelous things!

When I donned the wig to play “Alice” and made my husband take the photos, we both cried with laughter. Yes, I have totally lost my mind. But we’re all mad here, aren’t we? Or we wouldn’t have come here. 🙂

This blog was formerly “Heirloom-Art.blogspot.com,” a companion site to my professional portfolio at http://www.EliseIppolito.com, where I showcase the portraits that I paint — sometimes in oils, but mostly in soft pastel (chalk).

Before that, I used to be an attorney. And went to law school at University of Florida, and college at Duke University. But none of that called for a blog.

I’m married to Ian Ippolito: the love of my life, best husband and father ever, and brilliant, tech-savvy businessman and entrepreneur. In 2012, he sold http://www.vWorker.com to Australia’s http://www.Freelancer.com, just in time to clear his calendar for our baby boy’s birth.

  1. I am really loving the theme/design of your site. Do you ever run into any web browser compatibility issues? A couple of my blog readers have complained about my site not working correctly in Explorer but looks great in Chrome. Do you have any recommendations to help fix this issue?|

    • I wish I could answer your question, but I’ve used this blog so little that I’m not aware of how well it’s working across different platforms. I hope you found a template that works well for you!
